WAAMCtrl is the operating system for RoboWAAM, our 3D metal additive manufacturing machine. WAAMCtrl can be accessed remotely by our customers so you can see in real-time how your project is progressing.

Creating material properties and part geometry at the same time is one of the many fascinating aspects of additive manufacturing. For the first time in metal manufacturing, we have the chance to look right at the heart of a process, with several sensors each capturing information that is key in the context of quality control and assurance.

Without measurements there is no appreciation of a process’ recurring performance and navigating through gigabytes of data can stall your project. WAAMCtrl structures the data into a user-centric dashboard delivered right to RoboWAAM’s desk. It features real-time colour-coding of the 3D picture of the print based on actual vs expected data, automatic following of the end-effector’s digital twin, and through-layers navigation to review and monitor the state of the part.

Process monitoring and control

• Live monitoring and logging of melt pool video, arc voltage, arc current, wire feed speed, travel speed, deposition path and robot position, layer height and 3D profile, wire position, lead and trail temperature, oxygen, gas flows
• Electronic or automatic regulation of wire position

• Audio and visual alerts based on user-defined limits on process parameters deviations and expected / actual deviation, with such events recorded automatically in the quality file and audit forms
